Eleanor Russell - Consultant/Solicitor

Eleanor joined David Laws as a consultant in 2015, assisting David with the broad spectrum of commercial and civil litigation undertaken by the firm.

She obtained her degree at the University of Derby and completed the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School before training with Leathes Prior and qualifying into their Dispute Resolution Team in 2008 where she remained until 2014.

Whilst practising as a solicitor Eleanor has covered a variety of claims under the dispute resolution ‘umbrella’, including personal injury, adverse possession, professional negligence, landlord and tenant matters, boundary disputes, dilapidations, assured shorthold tenancies, possession proceedings and general contract disputes.

Eleanor specialises in civil litigation and has a particular interest in contentious probate, including lack of testamentary capacity claims, undue influence claims, lack of knowledge and approval, claims against executors and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims.

Eleanor appreciates litigation is never desirable and can be costly, strenuous and, at times, distressing. She therefore strives to adopt a pragmatic approach in all areas, not only ensuring her work is as cost-effective as possible, but also by remaining aware of the toll litigation can take and attempting to mitigate the anxiety caused by this process in general. Put simply, her overriding objective is to provide her clients with expert guidance, for the best possible outcome at the best possible price and to afford clients with her full support and assistance along the way.
